Four days, three countries, two extremes of weather and one big grin - day 1

Post by SimonW » Sat Aug 11, 2018 12:33 am

I was invited to go and visit a cousin who lives near Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It occurred to me that the Vercors was about midway between our homes, and I had never done the Combe Laval, so a plan was hatched…

Day 1 : Vers Pont du Gard to Méaudre via Combe Laval. Combe Laval lives up to the hype, and I’ve yet to discover a road in the area that’s not brilliant. It’s definitely worth another visit, though I will probably hop on the autoroute as far as Valence to give a bit more time on the fun stuff. I was surprised at how quiet the roads were… bliss!

It was still about 28° going through Combe Laval ... not high enough, I guess. Daytime maxima only fell significantly when I got to the Alps - first from the altitude and then from the storms. It was certainly a lot cooler at night than I have been used to in the last few months - a refreshing change.
