Registering a new vehicle

Post by 3BsBiking » Thu Aug 02, 2018 10:34 am

Has anyone registered a new vehicle in France ie one not previously registered anywhere else?
We are looking at buying some new bikes and they are cheaper in the Uk. I know how to do the Uk bit so I don’t pay Uk vat, I presume I just go to the local tax office where I’d normally get a quitus fiscal and cough up the French vat. Then what???

As the direct method using ANTS the computerised government system is very slow and next to useless, you could use an agent such as Cartaplac,
They have 1200 or so agents all over france. It'll cost you a small fee in addition to the normal registration fees but you can do it face to face.
I assume you are au fait with the paperwork requirements.

Once you’ve paid the tax in a France and got your QF you register the bikes as usual. Do the bikes come from the UK with either a blue or a pink logbook in lieu of a V5?
