Notting Hill Carnival

Surprise surprise ..... just read that 31 police were attacked during the carnival, Britain's finest. I was thinking that if the carnival organisers have sufficient insurance to pay for any crime victims, robberies, etc., then police wouldn't have to even be there ...perhaps at the entrance to check for knives etc., and then just stay away and let anyone who goes to this be responsible for their own safety and insurance.

My last visit to the Carnival was on an 'entrance route' road leading towards the Carnival area, we stopped a car with two likely types in it that seemed worth stopping. One had a loaded semi auto hand gun down the front of his baggy trousers with an extra long magazine and the second a big Bowie knife down his baggy jogging bottoms, it was tied to the draw string.
I don't miss the Carnival, London, or the UK... at all!

Is this the right wing Brexiter's view of the rosy future promised by the referendum? A Britain where the police are kept off the streets and those who can afford to do so protect themselves from robbery and violence through insurance? God help you all.

It sounds a bit like the big bike shows (Freewheels, Montalivet, etc) where there is zero police presence, and zero trouble. Policed by the organising club. Somehow I think the Nottinghill Carnival wouldnt work like that.
Any bike with three cylinders has one too many.....................

That doesn't surprise me, you have a very different attitude towards life than many other members. It might be your Irish blood but it might just be your personality. :)

I'd go for the irish blood, even diluted I still crave the good life.
