I know of one instance where a biker was refused entry to a pub. Big mistake, he bought the pub and sacked all the staff.
it's not the staffs fault! they are just doing their job :(

It appears to have been censored.

That would be illegal here, though I know a bar in Limoges which has told me motorcyclists are not served. At the time, I was unaware of the jurisprudence.

UK licensing laws are such that a pub is a private establishment. ( despite being a " public house" The landlord has an absolute right to ban any one for any reason. Actually, in UK law " withdraw his licence form San individual. Technically, anti discrimination laws do not apply. As with all " rights" in UK; there are no rights, only "privileges granted ". So a licensee can ban anyone.
In France, the law works the other way round. Everyone has rights, unless their actions, under law, are removed, or curtailed.

As my new buddy JS says, in the UK a landlord, as opposed to a manager, is boss.

However, this can get a little out of hand.

There's a famous ale house in a village near Cambridge called the Tickell Arms.
It's a large Georgian house, painted matt blue, set well away from the lane, surrounded by gardens, big pool with Koi carp and or possibly trout, and statuary, and all floodlit at night.

It has a truly fearsome reputation (or had, back in the day, as sadly he died in 1990) as the landlord was no less a personage than 'Kim' Joseph Hollick de la Taste Tickell, Squire of Whittlesford!

A robust, tweed-jacket and plus fours wearing gent of 'strange proclivities', he would, on request, bag you a brace of pheasants before breakfast, if you asked him nicely. He had strong opinions on many subjects, including dress.

This is fairly obvious if one was paying attention, as there was a large glass portico, and he'd scrawled in greasepaint a list of dress do's and dont's.

One tranquil summer's afternoon, Kim is behind the large smorgasbord-covered bar, which chickens used to run along not infrequently, polishing glasses and swapping jokes with his young, blond, German barmen, when a group of three Americans walk in.

The women have bare feet.

The man hails the Squire with "A pint of your best porter, my good man, and chilled Daiquiries for the ladies!"

Kim entirely ignores this.

The temperature starts to drop, and the locals all fall strangely silent, as in the old Dracula movies when some stranger arrives in the tavern near Drac's castle.....and asks if The Count is at home...

He repeats this command, and Kim turns to him and barks... "Can you read?"

"I beg your pardon? How dare you....I've ordered drinks, why do you ask if I can read?"

"Because IF you can read, you will understand why I'm not serving you......it says clearly in the entrance that bare feet are not allowed here!"

The American very foolishly continued to assume John was some sort of minion or employee, and John, never the most tolerant of guys, simply turned, grabbed a medieval mace off the wall, vaulted the bar, food flying everywhere, and wound the mace round the guy's head and neck.

He was of course done for GBH, but it did trade no harm at all!
People went there to see what he'd do next.....he refused me admission one evening for not wearing a tie, but had the grace to offer me one of his own.....
