Check if Your Home Router is Vulnerable

Post by Hal » Fri Apr 14, 2017 10:04 am

I heard of a worse case last night.

A friend worked at a language school. She recently rang the owner, who said the school is in serious trouble, due to some rather old phone messaging unit they had, which was hacked, and set on permanent call to pay by the minute numbers, over one particular weekend.

The school then received a bill for 15,000 euros from Orange.

They made it clear that they hadn't been inside the building all weekend, Orange's response was "Tough. Your bill, you pay it!"

They further stated that they had 'sent a warning about vulnerable older equipment....'which of course nobody had seen.

I think to protect themselves, Orange should consider the possibility of sending such 'vital warning information' by recorded delivery avis de reception, so they have proof they sent it....and that it was received.
