It’s interesting to note the huge difference in the time taken. Your experience is three months but 14-16 months still seems the time taken for others. As they are all handled by the same people in Nantes that suggests a hiccup in the system.

A modern Caterham like yours would be no problem to register and not particularly expensive to do so. I’d be careful about perceived value in France though as I've recently discovered that it’s normal for French insurance companies to value RHD cars at 50% of their LHD equivalent.
