Fuel pump problems - how to test?

Presumably you have a filter in line before the fuel pump. Worth cleaning it or replacing it if it is one of the cheap disposable ones. If you can't pressure test the pump outlet have you disconnected the pipe from the pump and turned the ignition on to see if it is pumping. Avoiding getting fuel in...
